Who may participant

The Sony World Photography Awards 2020 open to all amateur and professional photographers from around the the world.

There are four competitions:

  1. Professional Awards: All entrants must be over 18, for entering a body of work,
  2. Open Awards: The competition is open to anyone, for a single image,
  3. Youth Awards: for 12-19 year-olds,
  4. Student Awards: for academic institutions, open to all students of photography from World Photography Organisation’s selected Universities.

Description

Now in its 13th year, the internationally acclaimed Sony World Photography Awards 2020 are one of the most important fixtures in the global photographic calendar. The Photo Awards are a global voice for photography and provide a vital insight into contemporary photography.

Competition Rules

  • Professional Awards:
    1. Entries Photo submitting a series of 5 to 10 images per category,
    2. There are Ten diverse categories to enter,
    3. All submissions photos must be accompanied by a series description,
    4. Entries photos should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB,
    5. All entries photos must be saved in the sRGB color model and EXIF data must be left in the photo file,
    6. Images should be JPEG files formet.
  • Open Awards:
    1. Submitting single photos taken in 2019,
    2. Submitting Ten categories to enter images,
    3. Entries photos should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB,
    4. Images should be JPEG files formet,
    5. All entries photos must be saved in the sRGB color model.
  • Youth Awards:
    1. Submitting single photos taken in 2019,
    2. Photographers can enter up to 3 single phots per month,
    3. To upload your month’s challenge photo(s) directly from your mobile phone or from your desktop.
    4. Entries should be based on the monthly theme outlined, information on which can be found on the Website.
    5. Entries photos should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB,
    6. Images should be JPEG files formet,
    7. All entries photos must be saved in the sRGB color model.
  • Student Awards:
    1. Students are required to submit 3 - 5 photos responding to a brief.
    2. All Entrants images must be able to supply a high-resolution image suitable for printing in media.

  • Open Awards:
    1. Winner will receives $5,000 (USD),
    2. Sony digital imaging equipment, flights and accommodation,
    3. Included in Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London
  • Youth Awards:
    1. Winner will receives flights and accommodation to the Awards ceremony in London,
    2. Sony digital imaging equipment,
    3. Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London.
  • Student Awards:
    1. Winner will receives €30,000 worth of Sony digital imaging equipment for his or her institution,
    2. The ten shortlisted students are each given a Sony camera to shoot a new series of images and Included in the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London
