The Oxford Brookes International Poetry Competition is open to both new and established poets aged 18 and over from across the world.

Categories

There are two categories:

  1. Open category: Open to all poets aged 18 years and over who write in English as an Additional Language,
  2. EAL category: Open to English write poets aged 18 and over,

Description

The Oxford Brookes Poetry Centre is excited to launch 2019 International Poetry Competition to celebrate the power of poetry all over the world.

  1. A single entrant can enter a maximum of ten poems,
  2. Entries poems can be on any subject,
  3. All Entrants poems must have a title and must not exceed 50 lines in length (excluding title),
  4. Poems must be written primarily in English language,
  5. Poetry titles, blank lines and page numbers are not included in the line count,
  6. All entries must be submitted there poems to the Competition’s e-mail account: poetrycomp@brookes.ac.uk,
  7. The entries must comprise one poem per document and be submitted as a MS Word file (.doc or .docx), Rich Text Format file (.rtf) or as a PDF file (.pdf),

Entry fees

  • First 3 poems submitted cost £5 per poem. Subsequent entries in the same submission cost £4 per poem up to a maximum of 10 poems,
  • All payments must be made via the International Poetry Competition Brookes Shop website using Visa/Mastercard Credit/Debit cards only. Confirmation of payment will be inform by automatic email reply,

Prizes

  • Open category:
    1. The winner of the will receive a prize of £1,000.
    2. The runner-up (second-placed poem)will receive a prize of £200.
  • EAL category:
    1. The winner will receive a prize of £1,000.
    2. The runner-up (second-placed poem)will receive a prize of £200.
  • There are one special non-cash prize for Open Category,
  • There are one special non-cash prize for EAL Category,
